Anti-Aging and Skin Whitening

Aging is the process of growing old. Among other changes, hair turns gray, skin wrinkles, joints and muscles lose flexibility, bones become weak, memory declines, eyesight diminishes and immunity is impaired.

In 1956, Dr. Denham Harman, the "father" of the free radical theory of aging, defined "aging" as a result of the damage free radicals do to all the molecules of the cell.4 Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms that are extremely unstable and highly reactive. If they are present in excessive amounts, they begin attacking the body on the cellular level, accelerate the aging process, impair the immune system, leading to infections and various degenerative diseases such as heart disease and cancer.

Some damage is unavoidable because free radicals are produced during the normal course of cell activity. But, you can slow down aging by avoiding outside factors that foster free radical formation such as cigarette smoke, pollution, excessive alcohol and radiation from X rays or the sun, and by enhancing your body's own antioxidant defenses.

Complexion is something that we do not deliberately choose. In fact, it is natural. In the present times, consumers are becoming increasingly obsessed with personal appearance and well-being. It is owing to this fact that dark skin has become a cause of worry for many. Some people have a naturally dark skin, while others experience darkening of skin due to several factors like hyper pigmentation, heredity factor and over exposure to sunrays.

The primary function of the skin is to act as a barrier against invasion of airborne toxins, pollutants and radiation, which can accelerate the aging process. However, skin stress due to prolonged sun exposure, certain dietary items and certain chemicals disrupt the skin's natural melanin production process, resulting in muddiness, dark spots and uneven skin color on the skin's surface.

Good news is, there are ways to help lighten your overall skin tone safely and naturally. These include using supplements for beauty from within or skin care that are able to absorb the UV rays, thus preventing the sun from darkening the skin; and to reduce the production of melanin, pigment found in the skin which is responsible for skin darkening.
